Once is Never Enough: Does Luge really live up to it’s slogan?

While most are familiar with Luge, did you know they have a night edition?
JANA ANTONIA NG reviews the Night Luge at Sentosa.

Located just a short walk away from Beach Station on Sentosa Island, Luge Singapore has been around for about 15 years and is one of the many attractions in Singapore. For locals looking for a bit of fun at a reasonable price, Luge is also a staple choice for enjoyment and is known for its accessibility to everyone, young and old alike, making it a must go for all.

With the current promotion of four Skyrides and four Luge rides priced at $30, it is the perfect opportunity to be a speed demon at Luge Singapore. If you have not had the chance to use your Singapore Rediscover Vouchers, this could also be a worthwhile activity to spend them at! Snag a good deal on Mondays where Luge offers a 1-for-1 ticket promotion as well!

While Luge is more often an activity enjoyed in the day time, night time Luge, also referred to as Night Luge, can be even more thrilling for adrenaline junkies and thrill seekers, due to its slightly higher difficulty caused by lower visibility while “driving”.

In terms of tracks, Luge offers four different paths you can take, namely, Dragon Trail, Jungle Trail, Expedition Trail and Kupu Kupu Trail. To ensure you have the best experience, I tested out all four tracks and rated them according to enjoyment factor, difficulty, as well as how likely I would go again, listing out the pros and cons of each trail.

BRIEF REVIEW OF LUGE TRACKS

DRAGON TRAIL (688m):

Pros: It’s the longest trail available at 688m and has a perfectly comfortable ride length.

Cons: Curves are a little tight given the speed and might make it harder to control the kart.

Choose this trail if: You are an adrenaline junkie looking for more of a challenge and thrill.

JUNGLE TRAIL (628m):

Pros: The curves and turns involved make it an exciting ride.

Cons: It’s the shortest trail available and could be challenging for a first-time rider.

Choose this trail if: You are confident in your ability to control the kart and are looking for a fast but suspenseful ride.

EXPEDITION TRAIL (658m):

Pros: Length and difficulty compliment each other, making this trail the most enjoyable of all the trails.

Cons: Many people go for this track, so you have to navigate around other riders.

Choose this trail if: You are a first-time rider or even if you’re a regular visitor, as this trail will definitely ensure you make the most of your time there.

KUPU KUPU TRAIL (638m):

Pros: Easy and does not have many curves to it, doable even for a first-time.

Cons: The trail feels extremely short and will end quickly if you go at a faster pace due to its lack of complexity.

Choose this trail if: You are visiting the attraction for the first time and are looking for a well-paced introduction to Luge.

Speaking to a few visitors of the attraction, I concluded that the Expedition Trail was rated the most highly, followed closely by Dragon Trail, Jungle Trail and finally Kupu Kupu Trail.

The Kupu Kupu trail felt “too short” to be fully enjoyable, says Lebelle Chua, a patron of the Night Luge. In regards to their difficulty, most tracks ranged between 600m to 700m each, and had varying curves and turns to challenge riders. Even with the many twists and turns, Quennie Ng, another patron, says, “I was able to control the speed of my own kart so [I] didn’t feel overwhelmed and felt safe while playing.”

For a better user experience, Shanel See says, “Employees could do more by enforcing that riders do not purposely bump into each other.” Furthermore, the signs used to differentiate the trails could have been brighter, as there was low visibility due to a lack of direct light near the signboards.

All in all, Night Luge, with its stunning views and addictive speeds, is an interesting experience and Lebelle says, “I would recommend it to my friends and family, as it creates a sense of thrill and adventure, and was a wonderful escape from my mundane life routine.”
